Construction
Hull, propulsion and equipment
The keel is made of 22mm steel and the hull, a multi-chine round-bilge form, is made of 5mm steel. The very closely spaced profile frames withstand the heavy loads of the sea and the ice. The wheelhouse is built from the same material thickness as the hull. The windows are double glazed, 8mm thick for the outer pane and 6mm inside. The ship is divided by 3 bulkheads and each section is fitted with a bilge pump of 300L/min at 12 volts. Furthermore, a hand bilge pump and 2 pumps of about 300L/min at 220 volts can be put to use.
Electrics: 870 AH battery capacity, sine wave inverter 2.00kW, generator 6 kW at 1500rpm. Two solar panels and a wind generator.
Engine: 160 hp at 3300rpm, 4 cylinders, bore 100mm, stroke 110mm.
Drive: ice propeller 24” x 15” RH 4BL, mounted on a 45mm Ø shaft, running through a reinforced thrust bearing to a reinforced gearbox.
Electronics: two permanently installed GPS units coupled with radar, radio and autopilot. Magnetic compass 100. Fluxgate and depth sounder, satellite telephone and EPIRB.
Other: bow anchor windlass with 50 kg Danforth anchor and 100m of 10mm Ø stainless steel chain. Stern anchor windlass with 20 kg Danforth anchor and 100m of 8mm stainless steel chain. Electric bow thruster 95 kp.
